Semester: ST 2022

This is a course on topics in development economics with a focus on the econometric techniques used in the academic literature. The main goal is to revise some of the relevant factors that have contributed to a better understanding of the differences in economic development around the world and its empirical evidence. We will critically assess the literature and replicate some of the main results from selected papers. The course counts for the  Master's specializations "Applied Econometrics'', "Development Economics'' and "Economic Policy''.

The topics include law and regulation, financial development, democracy, political economy, inequality, poverty and development aid. This course and the course Quantitative Economic History (PD Dr. Marco Sunder, 07-202-3317) can be seen as complementary.
