This course aims to provide students with an overview of the U.S. legal system using an American-style educational approach. The course will introduce the common law system and the case-based approach to legal studies. Students will learn of major legal developments by studying seminal U.S. cases. Students
will also experience the American-style approach to legal education. The course aims to teach students to “think like an American lawyer”, which includes good communication, reasoning and judgment. Active participation is strongly encouraged to help one develop their legal English. The topics of the course include the common law system, constitutional law, civil procedure and private law, and criminal law.
