The principal aim of this course is to promote a sense of geometry over the
mathematical model collection of the University of Leipzig. By visualizing the
related mathematics via the mathematical models, even touching the mathematics,
the course will enable us to understand problems in geometry, and moreover to
convince ourselves of many geometric statements without necessarily discussing
the technical details of the topic. The course textbook is recommended to be
"Geometry and the Imagination" by Hilbert/Cohn-Vossen. Additionally will make
use of mathematical software e.g. SageMath especially to plot 2D, 3D models.

The course is planned to be interactive and collective to share the joy of
visualizing and touching mathematics. The students are invited to give a talk
on chosen chapters of the book and related mathematical models. At the end
there will be a discussion phase over the presentation. Main language of the
seminar will be English but the presentations can be held in either German or
English.

Educational students of mathematics can credit the presentation as an
elective subject, Diploma students of mathematics or business mathematics as a
seminar talk.
