In this course, students learn about the various news values and editorial policies typical of the press
in the United Kingdom, the United States and other English-speaking regions. Students will also learn
about the attributes of a variety of journalistic texts, and they will practice writing original news
reports and feature articles that adhere to the standards and practices of contemporary online
publications. Editing, proofreading and disseminating texts in the online setting are also covered, as
are the role of photo-journalism, the importance of visual impact and the niche that social media
occupy.
