Introduction to numerical methods with applications to physics problems. This starts with an overview of number representations in computers and elements of a higher programming language such as C. The methods will cover sorting algorithms, numerical differentiation and integration, interpolation and extrapolation, least-square fitting, Fourier transformation, and some basic techniques for solving differential equations. Also linear algebra problems such as inversion of matrices and the determination of eigenvalues and eigenvectors will be discussed.
