Violence is one of the main political issues in Latin America, since in some countries it reduces GDP by 20%. However, for the better part of the 20th century till the present, violence in this region has been domestic rather than international. Also, violence has been concentrating in the major cities of the region during the previous decades. This seminar explores several politico-economic questions around the rise of urban violence in Latin America.
