Globalization has been theorized as the “compression of time and space” and as the
“intensification of the consciousness of the world.” Through the rapid movement of capital,
people, goods and services, globalization creates new networks of global connections and
experiences. The current debate on globalization concerns not only its effects on economic
and political processes, but also on crime and its violent variations. In this seminar we will
critically discuss different theories and case studies where it is possible to observe this
particular connection.
