This course deals with current and classic problems of urban development, providing a general introduction to the topic. Urban development is characterized as a cross-sectional subject between Economics, Geography, Sociology and Architecture, which makes it a complex research objective due to a variety of scales and stakeholders involved. The aim of this course is to provide an overview and to encourage participants to deal with particular aspects, such as processes and framework conditions. A pool of topics will be addressed such as gentrification, neoliberalism, urban megaprojects, historic urban development etc.
