Many social phenomena stem from the complex interactions and inter-dependencies of actors in social networks. Understanding social networks and their implications for social phenomena is thus a central interest of sociology. This seminar serves as an introduction to the empirical analysis of social networks, equipping participants with essential tools for unravelling the complexities of human connections. We will delve into fundamental applications of social network analysis, providing hands-on experience in utilizing these methodologies through the programming language R. Basic knowledge of R as well as prior participation in Statistics („Einführung in die Statis-tik“ and „Angewandte Statistik“) and Research Methods („Methoden der Empirischen Sozi-alforschung“) is required. The seminar is limited to 20 participants.
