What we do intentionally is not limited to changing the physical world around us; some of what we do intentionally amounts to changing our own minds. In changing our minds in this way, we are mentally active

In this seminar we will consider what it is to be mentally active. In particular, we will address the issue of which occurrences are those that should be classified as mental actions and why. In doing so we will discuss the ubiquity of mental activity, and its connection to the state of conscious wakefulness. We will consider also how to account for mental activity, and our conscious awareness of it, as well as its role in our conscious awareness of ourselves.

The class-discussion and readings will be in English.
